Need some opinions,I've got an 86 with a split bench,It needs recovered on the drivers side-I'll get the whole thing done, but my dilemma is do I leave the belt guides on the headrests? They look like crap, the headrests do not look "square" I understand why they are there.I'd be ok with them if they were Straight, not on the 45degree angle that they currently are on.What have you 5th Gen guys done with them?

They are useful. Why are yours at 45 degees; mine are horizontal.

Its almost like the headrests themselves are "worn out".The guides are fine, not broken, screwed tight to the headrests, drivers side worse, pitched towards the outside of the car.Perhaps the headrests need new foam?

Sounds like something needs "tweaking".

I don't think they are needed for safety reasons, just there to help you grab the belt for use. I just put in buckets and slid the belts out of the guides and they work and lay in position just fine, it just takes a longer reach to get at them which is no big deal.
Try it for a while, see if it's OK for you.
