Im hurting for a little bit more power this summer and just a better performing carb on my elko. I have a 4bbl Rochester Q-Jet manual choke. I already have a Edelbrock performer intake with EGR, now will the 600CFM. so this will be a ideal combo eh? ANYWAYS does any have the proven knowledge that this carb will do fine for CA smog emission w/out having me to result in ILLEGAL SMOG! lol please lemme know if this carb will allow me to pass smog or if i should even worry about it! thank you oh so kind people :)

If you have an edelbrock catalog you can look up the carb # to see if can be use.

The CA smog inspection starts with checking that all the proper equipment is in place. Your car can be squeekly clean but if they find any missing or unapproved equipment, they'll flunk you and the test is over without measuring the emissions. Many aftermarket emissions related components come with C.A.R.B. EO stickers (a sticker that says the part is an approved replacement) but I don't think your carb does. I'd suggest that you keep the Qjet at least until you've passed smog (and keep it handy for the next inspection). IMO, I don't think you'll see much performance inprovement from the 600 Holley over the QJ unless there's a problem with the QJ. If that's the case, just fix the QJ and use it (at least for the smog tests).

First of all wy would you want to put a smaller CFM carb on it? The Q-jet is rated at 750cfm.
