Hi everyone,

I was wondering how hard it would be to remove the instrument cluster because I need to fix my AM/FM Stereo/8 track radio from the dash. Also, while it is out, I am going to replace the stereo speakers since the driverside speaker is not working either. I have a 1970 El Camino SS 396 bucket seats, console, stereo radio, stereo dash, A/C, cruise control, the works!

How hard is it to get the speakers and radio out on this vehicle? This will be the first time I have taken the dash appart since I have gotten this vehicle and dont want to break anything removing the instrument cluster.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I would plan on it being at least a two day job. Those dashes are a little bit more difficult to remove than the 4th or 5th gens.

I didn't plan on it being an easy job from the looks of it in the factory repair manual. :(

Oh well, may as well replace and fix everything at once while I have the dash out. Dont want to go through that hell again after seeing just what it involves taking it out the first time. 8O
