OK, so here I am.
Finally given into help suggestions.
83 Elky. 3.8L
just bought the car. It hasn't run in 6 months.
Checked the usuals. ~110 psi compression on all 6.
Has spark on all 6.
Fuel going past the throttle plates.

Then I took the plugs out. Thought I might have flooded it.
Took the cap off just to make sure that the timing chain is still connected.
The Rotor turns just fine

Sprayed Ether, still won't start.
Turns over fine, but doesn't even sound like it's trying to start.
What gives?

Is the choke plate closed completely?

Well you need air, fuel and ignition at the right time. Is the timing correct? Are the valves opening/closing at the right time?

Choke is closed.

Haven't touched the timing yet.
I'll rotate the dist. tomorrow.

Even with start fluid, you'd think I'd get a pop.
But that hasn't happened at all.
What's the most you get with dist rotation +/- 10 degrees? Or is it more?

Been a while since I've done anything that isn't efi.
Thanks guys........

You said in your earlier post(s) that you're getting spark, fuel, and the distrib is turning, so my 1st hunch is the distrib is 180 degrees out.

Good luck.
