Well the Megashifter is in the Elky. It took a lot of work to make it all fit with the Monte console but when it was done, wow, looks OEM!

I have to give great praise to Fred Brown, the owner of FB Performance Transmissions (www.fbperformance.com) in Bay Shore, NY. He and his guys did a phenominal job. They had to cut pieces of the shifter mechanism off, reweld spots, and do a lot of fitting to make it fit, all without cutting the console. I tell you, these guys are good! And best of all... Fred is an Elky owner himself! I've turned him onto this site and hopefully he'll visit and be very helpful with transmission advice.

A few pictures here. Note that the grey shift boot is from Wheelskins (http://www.wheelskins.com/shift_boots.php) and it really gives the shifter a finsihed look, much better than the cheapie black plastic one it comes with.

Is that the long or tall shift arm? Looks a little tall.

No, it's the standard Megashifter, this one. (http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=partdetail.asp&Ntt=megashifter&N=0&part=BMM%2D80690&autoview=sku&Ntk=KeywordSearch)

We didn't use the console or the trim that came with it.

It's not too tall at all, with my arm resting on the console arm rest my hand positions just right on the shifter.

Thanks Pete :) The boot is not connected at the base, it just straddles the shifter.

Looks sweet. But more important, how's it feel to drive it now?

Finding that you're shifting a lot more or less?

Shifts very ncely and yeas, I do find myself shifting from 4 to 3 a lot. I do this anyway, even on the Mark so I like the idea of engine braking.

Looks like a very well done setup. I like the console also. Nice!

Real NICE Leo!

I have the same style shifter that'll be going in my 74 (someday).

I just installed the same shifter in my 70 chevelle, I mounted the shifter bracket behind the stock column shifter bracket on the trans, and hooked up the rod up to the steering column, so the B&M shifter now activates the rod and the stock neutral safty switch and steering lock still works Jim
