: 1980 El Camino - tire size?

I stumbled across this site looking for some suggestions on tire size for my 1980 El Camino. After poking around a bit, I decided to sign-up.

I'm running 205/75R14's up front and some (forget the size) comparably fat Mickey Thompson's on the rear. I've two sets of 14" aluminum rims at the moment, so I'll probably stick with 14's... but go with something a bit wider.

While I'm at it, I'll add it needs a paint job (preferably not yellow! :)) ... and the interior needs some work. So I'll probably be asking for more suggestions later.

Pics of the car can be found at http://unixninja.net/curacao/chevy/

Thanks in advance for your comments...

Welcome to ECC. Nice Elky. I like the hood and those side panels. Are they fiberglass?
You will find a wealth of knowledge here. I have received many ideas and suggestions from people on this site. It is the "ONLY" place for true El Camino fans.

The hood is a fiberglass job; there's two holes cut in the hood up front for the 'dimples', and one in the center for the raised sections. The side panels, I believe, are metal, but I haven't really gotten into looking at the body on this El Camino yet. These mods were done before the car came into my hands.

I'll take some pictures of the underside of the hood and post the URL here.

I have an 80 SS, 305 4V with a factory 4 speed that I replaced with a Camaro 5 speed. I put some Z28 IROC rims and wheels on it and it really looks and handles great. These are 245/60ZR16's if memory serves me right as I haven't driven it for over 6 years. It developed some rusted out body mounts that made the bed fall and crush the brake lines and gas line.
I joined this little group because I plan to do a complete restoration in the spring, complete with a Choo-Choo SS Aero nose kit, hood scoop, hard tonneau cover and ZR-1 tail-light/bumper.
So I'll be looking to ask some questions and share some pictures with ya'al.
