I have 2 70' model ElCamino's, but, now looking at a 69'. I'm told it was a 396ss car made in Canada. Vin# is 136809K391502. Can anyone verify this?? [B]

All you'll be able to tell from the VIN is that it was a V8 car made in Kansas City, MO.

The SS was an option in 1969.

You'll need the build sheet to confirm the options.

Unlike the Beaumont's (Chevelle) and Acadians (Nova) I don't believe Chevy made a Canadian version of the El Camino.

Welcome to ECC/NECOA Forrest. You've found the best place on the 'net for El Camino's.

If your Elky was made up in the Great White north, you can get a free copy of what was originaly installed on your El Camino. I don't recall the phone number or address, but maybe some other members from up Canada way can help you out.

I may be mistaken on this, but have seen a few of the "build sheets" that are given to owners. Damn lucky Canadian's. The rest of us down south of the Canadian border can't get this info.

Just left Aiken day before yesterday. Ate the worlds best Bar-B-Q at Carolina Bar-B-Q in New Ellenton and stopped by Aiken Motorcycle where I built bikes in my youth. But, when it got back in the 90's, I headed back to Virginia.

Welcome to the best Camino site - period. Maybe I'll get to meet you some time.

Take care,

Greg
