elka79 05-19-2005, 12:14 PM i need one for my 79.question: opgi carries two of them, one says black with red trim and one with chrome. one is 80 something dollars,the other is 20 something.can i use any of them, or are they diferences and one will not fit the other.mine is a 79. dave1987SS 05-19-2005, 08:01 PM The black with red trim one sounds like the Monte Carlo SS one for 86-88. These only work for the later style radios with small knobs on the left hand side, they have an open rectangle where the radio goes. The 79 has the radio with knobs on left & right side that go through 2 holes in the faceplate then the knobs attach. The old style radio will not work with the later plates, although they will fit in the dash. Hard to tell without seeing the pictures of these, but I bet the black with red stripes is $20 and the one you need is $80! Dave Elky 83 05-19-2005, 08:17 PM I saw one today on ebay.
