So today i was sitting in homeroom when this kid starts bragging how his car won the local show. I figure its gonna be like a 69 Vette or other kick ace ride but he pulls out the "plaque" he got and its a 84 Monte. I ask him what its got under the hood and he says a 305. So now i'm wondering how that could of won but i'm willing to let it slide till i over hear him tell another kid it has a 700r4 5 speed tranny. Intrested i lean over and ask him to repeat it, he does and i chuckle to myself. He says "yeah, it came stock with the 5.7L." At this point i just wrote him off in my head as another wannabe ricer because it your going to brag that your car "won" a show at least know about the car. Oh yeah, he also said be bought it from a guy with no windsheild for 64 grand! then is thinkin about selling it for 35 hundred! Just needed to vent, i have nothing against newbie mistakes, i make them all the time but if your entering your car in shows you should at least have some technical knowledge

He doesn't sound too unlike some people we've had on this forum; just inexperienced and uninformed. It was your duty to set him straight.

I'm not even sure the monte won, the plaque just said 1st place with a slip in photo poket, i told him it was a 4spd auto overdrive and that i have an elcamino of the same generation, he didnt really say anything after that but hopefully he'll learn, it came out more cynical than i intended it to when i wrote it

yeah, it was a nice lookin car, small cowl, pearl white, tinted windows, pretty nice

at least its someone witha v8 bragging about their car. back when i was hs i had kids bragging out 1990 honda crx's that were primered and ran lucas oil like it made them faster and to fit in with the muscle car crowd @ my school they put Accel Auto Meter MSD stickers on their cars w/out even having one part from each part company.

haha, we have them too, this one has a black eclipse with a white, unpainted body kit and yellow interior, you can see the black stained spots on the body kit from his exhaust, he thinks its the fastest thing with four wheels, revs it to 6grand in the parking lot but the muffler and exhaust is stock, i just laugh

yeah the kids at my school are the same as everywheres else i guess,theyall got volkswagons and honds,the hondas sound like 2 cycle dirt bikes,and little ones at that,and the volkswagons,just sound like thmorning after some bad taco bell.i just recently started drivin my elk to school,some kids love it others hate it,i park with 2 mustangs and a camaro, thats bout the only muscle cars in the junior class,and mine with crappy runnin 305 got wasted by one of the mustans,it looked like i popped the car into reverse,even i had to laugh at myself and my car.

haha, yeah with the 350 rebuild i'm hopin to be able to show the arrogant preps with ls1 camaros that money isnt the only thing that goes into a car, especialy when its thier daddys
