I just purchased a 83' and two days after getting it home the engine blew. Thing is I wanted to upgrade to a 305 anyway, just later than sooner.

So what is the best junk yard engine to put in there, and what cars fit the bill.

Any advise would be greatly appriciated

Get a 350cid, a 305 is a plug and not worth the effort.

most people that have done a 305 to something else will GIVE you the 305. I plan on the no-oil-run-full-throttle-till-seizing retirement plan for my 305 when I am ready to swap.

By swapping out the 3.8 for the 350, do I also need to put a diiferent tranny and rear end in. And what other things do I need to watch for? Will I need to move the steering box, or anything like that.
