I have an opportunity to buy, for $100, a 78 El Camino which I’d like to use for parts. My question is... are the parts interchangeable with my 82 El Camino? I mainly need the bumpers and all the interior, but eventually (with the exception of the engine and trans) I’ll need it all. Thanks!

the bumbers will fit, so will the interior. the header panel will fit too if you like the look of the single headlights. so will the doors, windows tailgate etc. the cars were mostly unchanged from 78-87. the taillights won't be the same as the 78's aren't the same as the rest

The 78 is very interchangeable with the 82. $100.00 for a complete Elco sounds like an excellent deal. I can think of many things that I could use off of that.

Let me know if you pick it up and are interested in selling some parts off of it.

Any chance of you swinging through the meet we are trying to set up tomorrow? Check out the Orlando People thread for details. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. The 87 is without an engine but at $100 it still seems like a good deal. Considering my 82 has an engine but needs the rest.

I can't make it this week but I'll check back for the next meet.

Your first entry said 78. Your last entry says 87. Did you mean 78? Either way it doesn't matter. It's an excellent deal. Most of the 78 parts are interchangeable.

Do let us / me know if you pick it up and are interested in selling some parts off of it. Respond to this message or PM me so that we can go over any details or questions. Thanks.

I woke up in the middle of the night and wondered if I'd done that.
It's a 78 and I'll absolutely hook you up.

Way cool. Where in Central Florida do you live?
