I recently use a pressure washer to get all of the caked-up dirt and grease from underneath on my EC. After it dried for a while, I noticed plenty of rust all over the frame. Is there something out there I can get to stop the rust that is there and prevent any new rust from forming???

More detail, please... How is this applied, bodyshop, front yard or what?

Chris,

That's why I sent the link, so you could learn about it.

It's a 3-step process (clean, prep, paint) and can be done in your driveway. They have a starter kit or you can buy the components seperately. Some folks just clean and apply, but you'll have to get feedback from others about how successful that is.

It ain't cheap, but, to my knowledge, it's the best there is.

Take care.

Greg,

Thanks for that info, I didn't see the address the first time. I just came back from the site and it's not priced too high at all.

Thanks again!!!!!!!!

I've used POR -15 on small items, not a complete frame. But the stuff does exactly as advertised. Just remember to wear protective gear because this stuff is very difficult (read: damn near impossible) to get off skin or hair.

Also check out Rust Bullet (http://www.rustbullet.com/). They are supposed to be better than POR-15. I was going to use some of their product next time when my POR-15 ran out.

Let us know how you make out.

I used about 2 quarts to do the entire frame rear end and control arms with zero rust. I have had good result with it and is relatively safe to use and will store for a long period. Ed ke6bnl

Just finishing my 69 frame that was in good to better shape but in need so that no damage could start and it was 15 years sense its frame off, Have used por 15 on several cars and it is very good brushed or sprayed. If your doing the car on the ground and no disassembling than brush is the only way. "PREP IS EVERYTHING" that means a lot more work than you may think and use the marine clean and the metal prep. if you cut a corner you might as well put the POR 15 and your time in the trash!!! Buy the POR!5 in the six pack and you will be ahead beacuse you will not loose any. As it goes bad from air and you "can not save it once you start using it to paint its gone. I use a large medical suringe to take it out of the can and put into a small tupperware bowl for use. Every thing cleans easy while wet with lacqar thinner or acetone. Once it sets nothing will touch it. The POR 15 is not UV tolerable but under a car its good for a long time. I recommend two coats or one of 15 and one of POR Top Coat. You must second coat while the first coat is at the right drying point to get a solid adhesion. The good news is the second coat will go on real easy and fast. REMEMBER TO CLEAN REAL GOOD AND PREP TO ALMOST BARE RUST or STAINED METAL and the smoother you get the area the better the finish will lay out and be closer to a sprayed look. I must have 10 days prep in my frame and suspension with air tool and hand. The painting is just that no big deal just a little messy some times. Tip that will sound crazy in your brush selection 1" wide will be your big brush but get a 1/2" wide short 2 or 3 " handle and a 1/2" wide 12" long handle artist type brush and you will thank me when you get to painting that frame. OH yes the easy way to paint your frame is to do a full frame off and spray it.
