Well, that's just my "guess". If you go nuts, you can probably get it down around 2800 like some of the drag guys on Maliburacing.com. Not much more but an engine, suspension, and seat though. :P

:) Ya somewhere just under 3000 would be great my goal is 2900 but 2800 sounds better. Ive seen on the forum guys changing to the c5 vete front brakes and s10 spindles does anyone know what the weight savings are?

It probably does save some weight, but they just want better braking. Circle track parts will save you some weight, be cheap, and fit as replacement parts. Calipers and rotors from Speedwaymotors.com come in mind. Do you plan on drag racing or what?

Already drag racing. Just looking for a little more weight reduction for a little more speed. Im trying to get my 60 foot time down.

Well, just gut everything, get fiberglass parts with lexan winows, etc. If you don't have them already, drag slicks will make a big difference.

I have lost the a/c heater case, inner fenders, got fiberglass bumpers and hood, racing seats, alluminum radiator, heads, and waterpump removed front sway bar removed tailgate skin and welded to body to eliminate tailgate weight, removed fuel tank and added fuel cell at the end of the bed also moved battery to bed. Its running 7.50s now but its leaving the line crooked and spinning 29.5 10.5 micky slicks in first and second gear. I need less weight on the front and more weight transfer to the rear.

Do you have control arm relocation brackets of any sort. Sometimes they'll lose traction after the initial bite if not set up properly.

No I dont but Im thinking about geting some for the lowers to move them down several people said they like them but i have a moser 9" so I need to look under the car closely and see if they will still mount and weld properly or I may have to fab them up myself. I did just get new adjustable upers and lowers and Im haveing trouble adjusting them properly, Just kinda going at it blindly any hints or sugestions would be greatly appriciated

If you can measure, I would try about 3 degrees down. Maybe less if you have solid bushings. Try maliburacing.com. They'll be able to help you a lot more!

What 3 degrees down? Pinion angle?

Yeah, for the pinion angle. If you can measure the degrees, that might be a starting point. I hope your arms are double adjustable!

I have the sales brochure for a 1980 with a 305. The GVWR (lb.) is 4426 to 4712. I hope this helps; I'm lucky that the original/only owner kept everything including the salesmans business card.

That number is fully loaded. Expect to be in the low 3000s if you weigh it.

My 78 weighed right at 3600 with me in it, so mine weighs around 3380 something.
