ok, now ive seen it in a few elky's where the owner has put in a dash from either a 3rd Gen. Firebird or Camaro. Im wondering if that is a direct fit (i doubt it) and how much modification is required to put that in there. In the "4x4 Elky w/ 3 smallblocks" thread I saw the Grand Prix dash which also looked pretty cool. How close of a fit is that?

This winter I'd like to do something pretty custom with my interior. Possibly a dash swap from another car and change the color of my entire interior from maroon to black (the pillars, headliner, floor, other maroon pieces). I also have a friend with a set of 4th Gen. Camaro bucket seats and console which would be pretty cool in an elky but I'd like to do something trick with the dash. I'm not quite sure what just yet. Any Ideas?

original type dash (etc) is history, swapping it is crime (as i see and feel)

While I was and will be again, working on the dash for the 80 I have I would drive my 93 Silverado home from the shop. One night I noticed that there really is very little differences in the two dash layouts. I had wondered if that could be a good interchange.

I like the new knobs and lighting on the dashes and the switches. I like the dash I have in our Lumina. I really like the illuminated window and door lock switches. Really classy. I found some illuminated switches @ Electrolite so I got some for both my Elkys. I like the electronics of the newer AC controllers. I like the newer or different gages then came with mine. So I had pondered finding a "Perfect Dash" and modifying it so that I could do the swap. There are a couple of places that you can send the shell to and they will populate it with digital or analog gage sets.

I'll probably do it with my 76 first. I've changed it way past what it was originally anyway so some tidying up and a little more customizing couldn't hurt.

Pete do you have a site for the switches you got? I'm looking for some for my project.

TIA
