Hi guys,
I'm doing the dash cap thing. And the guage swap. So I have the instrument pod out.
How does one get the emergency brake handle out of the dash in an 85 Elky?? I got the damn yellow gromet free, but i cannot get the handle out.
Thanks!
Glenn

just did this on mine. once the gromet is free, slide the handle out as far as it will go and there should be 2 black tabs that you pinch toggether to slide it out.
a word of warning on the dash cap. you WILL need more silicone than they usually ship, and you need alot of clamps/ bungie cords and such to get it to keep together, and plan on letting it sit a whole day before messing with it.
I ended up using a bunch of 14 guage wire, tied off at one end, and then wrapped tightly around most of the openeings to try and keep it firmly attached while drying.
On mine, some of the areas around the upper vents as well as near the radio started to come undone as I didn't have extra silicone during the process so I had to go thinner than I liked in some areas. I ended up sinking some screws into places that didn't grab very well. and here is my bigest warning if you do this be very carefull not to put screws into the upper vent area where the head of the screw will be near the window side. I did this on mine got the dash in, all looked good, first trip out on the road with it, the body shifted a bit in a turn and the dash flexed and crack, i know have a spider growing from the tip of a screw head in the lower left drivers corner about midway up my field of view....

Did you release the cable on the end of the brake unit? Just pull the piece it fits into toward the back of the vehicle and it will come right out.
