I'm Bob......Down here in Goose Creek SC......outside of Charleston. Hi to all the NC/SC folks.
My deal on the "85 Caballero" fell through at the last minute so here I am.......looking again.
I just want a nice elky......always have loved them. It'll be a daily driver otherwise I would have jumped all over Hans'. I just think it would be a bit too much for a daily driver. It's sharp, he did a great job as far as I can see. If I'm wrong.......I'll definitely go look at it...........
Meanwhile.........if anyone knows of any for sale at a reasonable amount......(I'm retired and on a pension)......I'm open to look....
Thanks and I hope to see some of you over time at the different rally and shows.

Hi Bigjames......Thanks for the welcome and for keeping an eye out.
That's a nice looking ride you have there.......looks like you have spent some time keeping it in great shape.
Hope to see you with mine one of these days.

Welcome to our little corner of the world. Give us a little info. on the particulars of the Elky your looking for and I'm sure we all will keep an eye open in our respective localities. Since you were trying to buy an '85 my assumption is your looking for a fifth generation.

Again, welcome!

Hi mojowrkn

Thanks for the welcome.

Well......where do I start........let's see.... I was in the process of buying an 85......for two reasons.....first there are very few to be found in this area and second....it was in my price range. At least it was till the morning we were going to meet at the bank and he tried to up the price. It wasn't a lot.....but it was the idea.......Needless to say we didn't come to terms.

I guess if I had to choose which generation I favored it would be the 5th now. I'm 62 and looking for more of the "comfort" features that the later models came with........power everything.....lol
I like the looks of a 70 I saw ...painted red with black stripes.....ss style......but it has no air or cruise......and I'm not even sure those can be added.

I can do small things....plugs.....wires....change oil....not afraid to tackle things if I have the info to do them. Everything I do is done in the driveway ....but getting under them isn't near as easy as it used to be...lol hell...even bending over the fender isn't a easy as it used to be........lol
.
I can't do body work so rust is an issue......I pay to have that fixed and naturally I don't want to "pay" any more than I have to.

It has to be a good runner......it will be my daily driver while I am doing things to it. I'm not going to race it so it doesn't have to be a hopped up 350.....stock 305......even 4.3 v6 would be fine.

I plan to have it a long time......maybe even my last one.....so I'll make it good and keep it that way.

I just read all this and it sounds like I'm looking for the moon.
Actually just looking for a good one at a good price.

Thanks for offering to help....Hopefully I'll be able to return the gesture one day.

Hey Bob! Thanks for your interest in my car. Being a daily driver is surely not an issue, unless 10 MPG is the problem. It has a hwy gear of 2.56 and can downshift to 2nd gear at 70! Not really set up for drag racing. Had plans to change the rear axle, but time is my problem. Car has A/C but compressor is not installed. I do have all the parts, plus lots of extra parts. What you got for trade?

Hi Hans

10 mpg huh.....probly less if I don't keep my foot out of it....lol. It does look good.

I have a 77 C-10 Cheyenne pickup.......not finished but a long way from where it was. you can see it here http://ee.1asphost.com/rwjgc/ .
350 ci and a TH350 both rebuilt 21k ago. Shift kit in the trans set to mild. Not sure of the rear yet.....think it's a 3.87.......gets 13-14mpg in daily driving.

Since these pics I have added a rear chrome bumper and a Billet grille. It's painted Cadillac White Pearl. Interior still needs finished....headliner, seat redone or replaced ( have a bench out of a 96 Sierra), original door panels are there but are repainted, dash pad from a 78 with a very small tear next to the speaker perferations. Still has the Cheyenne trim inside.

Truck has A/C, tilt, cruise and all of it works.
It will be for sale as soon as I settle on one of these elky's.
It's a good ole truck.
