I am selling a 1974 El Camino for my Grandfather and I am looking for help on how much I should sell it for and any potential buyers. It is in great condition. My Grandfather has been the only owner and has had regular maintenance done to keep it running smoothly. It is all original and is a great car! I would appreciate any help in appraising this vehicle and/or getting the word out that it is for sale. The car would have to be picked up from Lawrence, KS.
How about some details?
Photo?
VIN?

I listed a classifieds as on this website. Here is what I know about the car...
The car has only had one owner and is in great condition. It has received regular maintenance and runs like a dream! It only has appr. 98,000 miles. It has been reupolstered with blue vinyl. A seam has loosened and can be resown very easily and without much effort. The rear fenders have been refurbished; The body has been repainted with original matching paint It has a original 350 engine that has been tuned several times and the valve covers have been replaced because the original valve covers had been tightened too much and were leaking. The transmission is original, however the alternator and the water pump have been replaced. It also has Turbo Hydramatic Transmission, Soft Ray Tinted Glass, Body Side Moldings, Variable Ratio Power Steering,AM Radio,Bumper Guards, and Exterior Decor Package. It has mostly been kept in great shape and in a garage for safe keeping.
All of the pictures of the car can be seen at...

Hi Allyson and welcome to El Camino Central. I am NOT an expert or in the appraisal field, but you did ask for opinions.
Your grandfathers El Camino is in nice shape and appears to be a "Classic" model with minimum extra options or features. The Yahoo site was down, so I did not get to see all the pictures. If I was a buyer, I'd be interested in seeing a few more pic's of the interior, I.E. dash (any cracks?), headliner (any rips?), carpet (condition). Then some pictures of the inside bed area I.E. sides, floor, trim (if any). Also some pic's of underneath from the rear and front.
As far as a price. If all the above were in good shape and the mechanics checked out, I'd probably say between $3000 - $4000 is what it is worth. But finding a buyer for 4th gen El Camino's is a little tough. For some reason, the body style is a very unique and individual taste.
Is that anywhere near what you were looking for? What kind of offers are you recieving? How much of a hurry are you in to sell it?
