Okay guys, I'm driving down the highway when all of a sudden I here a nice bang/clank noise and my car begins to slow down. I pull her off to the side and realize i have no gears. Then when i get it towed home and can't get it out of neutral. Once i thought i had it in drive, so i gave it some gas and the speedo moved, but i didn't. I'm pretty confused and mad, since i was stuch on the highway for almost two hours last nihgt....so anyone have any idea what I broke??? thanks.

steve

edit: could it also be i broke something in the rear? because why would the speedo show me moving????? thanks.

I'd say that if your speedometer is registering then your Drive shaft is turning. Look to see if it is then it's in the rear end. If your running a fair amount of power and it's not how it was when the truck was stock, your could have overloaded the Differential and busted that with things like power take offs and spinning tires and what have you. That 7.5" in the 5th gens is pretty weak.

Good Luck!

I checked for the driveshaft, and it didn't spin. And the speedo now only moves everyonce in a while. I think i can hear it going through the gears, but not sure. I guess i'll just have to look at it more.
