Was there ever a regional model of the El Camino for California? I am talking about something like ford did with the Mustang (e.g.: California Special, High Country Special{colorado}, etc). When I acquired my Elky several years ago the guy I got it from told me it was a California GT or something like that. I just kind of shruged it off and figured he didn't know what he was talking about or was full of it (he usually was). Has anyone ever heard of anything like that.

This car was originally a california car and the steering wheel looks like it is out of a late 70's camaro but it has a GT emblem in the center.

I've never heard of California GT El Camino, but it might have been something that a Chevy dealership had done. Kinda like the 1980 M-80 Malibu that was put together by a dealership in NC or SC.

Buick also made a "California" edition in 1967 and 1968 called the "California GS."

The Mustang GT/CS was my favorite though.

I wouldn't doubt that a dealer offered something.

The Buicks were not advertised nationally being that they were only sold in CA.
