Could decide on a good forum for this.
What kind of fluid do the put is in liquid filled guages? Is it okay to top it off? Is there a specific amount that has to go in? Where would I get it? Or am I just s#@t out of luck?
I have the AutoMeter 2 5/8" ProComp water temp gauge (all that may not matter).

Thanks in advance for your infinate knowledge

Most manufaturers, like Autometer, use liquid silicone. It is used for vibration dampening and smooth pointer movement.

Why would you want to top it off?

All the liquid filled gauges I've seen aren't full.

I have a unique ability them in the wrong order or, more commonly, do something that wasn't supposed to be in the order of things in the first place.
Like when I went to move gauge somewhere other then by my knee. I was looking to revolutionize the term "knee knocker".
There was no good reason for me to mess with the bolt holding the cable on the back of the gauge. I could have just re-routed the cable starting with the other end. I figured that it would have some sort of seal on it, kind of like the one on the transmission where the spedo cable goes. Seems I was wrong. :-D
That's my story and I shouldn''t even admit to it.

Where does a person get liquid silicone?
