Today I was making good use of my elky bed when I was towing around an antique sewing machine that my mom wanted to sell to the antique store. On the way into town I stop to a red light and a black Dodge Ram 1500 pulls up next to me & starts revving his loud muffler at me. Well, I look into the driver seat to get a look at my opponent. This kid looked no older than maybe 15, the kind of rich little bastard that owns the big truck that his rich ass father bought for him. Well, I'm thinkin, "I guess I'll play a round with Junior here." The light turns green and I floor it. In first gear, I just inched past his bumper. By the time I hit second gear, I was pulling ahead of him by a good bit. By the time I reached about 55, he was far behind me, about 200ft. I figured he either goofed up or just didnt know how to drive. But I thought the most funny thing was that I outran him while towing a 200-lb, 90 year old sewing machine in the bed.

I guess for the kid's next birthday he'll be whining for some turbos :-D

Its hard to believe that Chrysler is rambling about a Small Block Hemi. The original Hemi was an Elephant (Big Block) and now they are trying to convince a new generation that the Small block was the legend. :D

Much like anything else, LS1 included, directly out of the box they are not bad but can be much better with time and money. Then it is in a large truck so that is another strike against the Hemi, trucks are generally geared for pulling and towing not usually for racing.

I think, and I hate to mention this but, Ford has a small block that is really suppose to be something. In 2000 they put one of their stock trucks (some sort of "Sport" Model) against a Corvette and it only lost by a few 10ths. It amazed me, for a Ford that is not bad. I didn't bother reading much about the truck because I am not a Ford person.

Sometimes in life your the Fire hydrant and sometimes your the Dog.

That's probably why you got him, 200 lbs of extra traction :D

Welcome to ECC Chris!

With my luck, if I did that, the sewing machine would have slid into the tailgate and wiped it out. Reminds me of the time with my 79 Elky when I was sitting at a light next to an Impala SS and decided to race him. I had forgotten all about the four bags of cement I just picked up at Home Depot sitting in the bed. Well, you know the rest of the story....

Sounds like your talking about the Ford Lightning. It has a factory blower and puts down over 400hp. With a new pulley and a chip they are doing 450+hp. One problem with them is that like most trucks it's heavy. At the track it's kind of funny hearing the whinning of the blower, it's almost like the truck is crying.
