I am not a big fan of digital guages; it might be a generational thing as I am much older than most of the members of this forum. I have read that in many nuclear power plants analog guages are considered safer because the relative position of the pointer is easy to notice if it is not in the normal range. I know that a quick glance at my analog guages can tell me instantly if something is "out of range". I also think analog guages look better. I don't know, call me a tradionalist or an old fart set in his ways but I like analog guages.

Check out Don's awesome Elky (http://elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?set_albumName=SS396-Could-have-been-NECOA-5347&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php). Looks great. I have contacted Don once, he is up north in Canada. Good guy, knows his stuff. Send him a private message, or if you want I can find his email address. It is a work and I can get it later this morn.

I do like some digital gauges for others, but for mine I'm going to go with the original analog. I prefer to be called a "purist", but " traditionalist" works also. Your dash looks frigon awesome. 8-)

I like that dash also but its too expensive for me. I like the analog stuff too and that is less expensive and looks just as good to me. I could go ether way if someone wanted to buy that overpriced dash for me I'd cardinally take it and use it.

The latest generation of digitals are nice, and tempting, but I have decided to convert my old VDO's to TPI Quads and stay with dials and needles.

While they look cool, digitals do take longer to read and evaluate. Pilots know this well. Visualize the time it takes to read and understand five digital gauges versus simply scanning for needle positions on five dials.

The optimum functional setup remains dials and idiot lights that warn of failure.

Yea, I know most Elky's don't go as fast as airplanes.

Take care.

Dakota digital is very nice bit priced considerably higher than the panel from Nordskog($400) The only complaint I have is when the sun is shining through the rear window the display is difficult to read, otherwise it's a great product. You can calibrate the speedo to any gear/tire combination with the simple push of a button, record 1/4 mile et and speed, 0-60 times. Maybe not as elaborate Dakota Digital but about 1/2 the price.

I have a Dakota Digital cluster in my elky but I installed a complete Grand National dashpad and instrument surround so I guess I can't really let you see them in a malibu cluster. They make a direct bolt-in cluster for a malibu/monte that looks really nice.
The Nordskog uses Cyberdyne gauges and is cheaper but for only a few hundred dollars more the Dakota's are alot sexier IMO. and do a whole lot more.
