just about any high performance HEI ignitions are better than stock i see a lot of guys around here with MSD or Mallory ignition systems. hope this helps.

The stock HEI is more than satisfactory on your engine.

DITTO !!!
As usual, I agreee with Mrapii.
The MSD/Mallory/Crane/ACCEL or others will not make enough difference with that engine to be cost effective.

i agree also,

i wouldnt be worrying about the HEI

i would worry on exhaust and carburation and valve train and axle ratio and transmission condition and other things

but if its non CCC HEI on oyurs and you end up swapping it off then i want first dibs on the distributor

i need to buy one like yesterday ASAP
cash in hand ready to buy

good luck

The stock ignition is more than adequate unless you want to rev over about 4500 rpm regularly, not usually a requirement of a V-6. MSD makers do claim better combustion and economy from their equipment, though. Never seen it myself, though the theory seems sound.
