Is there a cheap intake out there to switch my 229 from a 2bbl to a 4bbl? and if there is how much is it and what will it do for my horse and torque and gas milage?

I don't think there is an aftermarket 4 barrel intake for the 3.8L Chevy 229. If you had a 3.8L Buick 231, there was a 4 barrel used on it in the 1979 Buick Century Turbo Coupe.

the only thing about 4 barrels are they suck the gas i had a 2 barrel on my other engine in my camino but when i put the new motor in it has a 4 barrel i like that better but it's gonna suck more gas for sure but its worth it let me tell ya its way better than driving a ricer :D

If you can't get an intake, you can buy adaptors for most manifolds to go to a four barrel, although it's definatly a second choice. And switching to a four barrel doesn't nessesarily mean a sacrifice in gas milage. A spred bore four barrel can get better milage than many two barrels, because the primaries are smaller than most two barrel butterflies. The secondaries will only open when you get on the gas and need more power, so it's possible to get more power AND better milage.

Try Performance Automotive Warehouse. They seem to have a lot of "oddball" stuff like that.

I put an after market edelbrock intake on my 229. it went from 2 - 4 barrels and I added a 500cfm edelbrock carb runs rather nicely not much of a gain, but as long as my baby is running it can be the slowest thing on earth for all i care. anyway i decided to change it from a 2 - a 4 when i realized that i couldnt find an after market 2 barrel to fit my application, so i decided to change out the intake for a 4 barrel so everything would work right. i can look up the edelbrock performer intake if you want me to man.
