Hey how you guys doing. Just got myself(well actually my wife got herself) a '72 elky project. A fellow by the name of Peter Brown reffered me over here off a Camaro board I usually post on.
So just making my first post to say hi all! I should have some pics by next week of the project.
I do have a question to go with my hello however. I have new 15 x 6 Torq Thrust D's that I'm going to throw on it. What would be a good tire size to fill out the fenders and fit the rims?
Yep, that was me...Welcome to the group
Here's a little tech article that one of the guys wrote up that might help: Offset & backspacing (http://www.elcaminocentral.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=60&mode=&order=0&thold=0)

Welcome to ECC Chris. As you'll find out, this is the ONLY place for Elky fans.
I saw your Z-28, looks great. I think a '72 Elky would go very well with it.
Any details on your Elky?

Thanks for the welcome and the compliments on the Z. The Elky is white with a black interior. No engine or trans. The quarters were redone as well as the bed. It came with all the moldings and an extra set of doors. So basically it's a clean slate to work with. The guy I bought it from is buying a house so he's trying to build up his cash flow,so I got it on the cheap. I kinda felt bad for him cause he put a fair amount of work into it already, but oh well.
I bought it for my wife as an anniversary present(I know some girls get diamonds and furs, mine get a Chevy  ). Seriously though, shes been wanting a El Camino for quite awhile now for us to both work on. She's going to be so excited about this. I've got the Camaro's and the T/A's,she wants her own differant car(and well I admit I've always like the Elky too :D).
I'm figuring we'll have it painted the indigo blue that they use on the Z06 Vette with white stripes(as she's always liked that color). We're gonna add the SS non-ducted hood. A set of buckets and console. I have a 350 and THM350 laying around my garage that we'll put in. Do over the suspension with polygraphite. Put an IROC steering gear in. Put on those TT D's. You get the general idea. I have enough room in my garage that we'll pull the body off the frame and do it all over the way it should be.
Well that's about it. I can't wait for our anniversary and to get cracking on it!!
