i want to replace my stock HEI.i want to put in a distributar now and run car for few months till i could add an ignition box.my 78 elky is 350/350 fresh cond 15k.all stock but edel intake, edel 1400 carb,im gonna add mild cam, headers with new exaust, change rockers from 1.5 to 1.6.thats all.the car is street only.im not into mass h.p.im thinking of 2 distributars to order from summit.
1.accell (all new) #110-59107c $135.
2.mallory (all new) #8548201 $159.

for a daily driver and reliability which would suit my needs best?
i just want one that is better than stock and reliable.

i would get a msd but they all need a box to run.i think they have one but costs like $300.

im in cali and elky needs to be smog legal.

If you have an HEI now, why not just buy a higher output coil for it and maybe a mdule? I got a 52,000 coil on ebay brand new for $12.

unless your going into race mode. Rebuild or add MSD coil and new parts and thats all thats needed. You will not fell or see emough change on that engine with the change your thinking about keep and add coil & stuff.

All that 1.6 rockers will do is increase the cam, save the money if your stock lifters are in good shape and just buy a cam with the right stats you want and save the 100 or so dollars.
