Will a double hump crossmember from a 68-74 A body fit a 78 el camino? Im looking to a solution to the dual exhaust problem with out buying a G force crossmember.

Yes, but not without some modifications. The A-body crossmember is wider and needs to be cut and redrilled for mounting bolts. Plus, the frame rails on your El Camino will need to be modified for the A-body crossmember to be bolted in.

Check out this page:
Modifying an Early Chevelle (A-body) Crossmember (http://home.hiwaay.net/~ppatter/dual_crossmember_mod.htm)

Then, buy the G-force crossmember from Crossmembers.com (http://www.crossmembers.com)! http://elcaminocentral.com/users/elcamino/Hammer.gif

Bowtie Overdrives sell crossmembers. Cheaper than G-Force but they do require a little work and they are sold for their transmissions. However they will allow a dual exhaust and are a bit better than cutting up the one you have already.

They have one for 64 through 67 then one for 68 through 72 they are about 159.00. http://www.2004r.com/catalog/catalog_inc/viewitem.php?ITEMID=26.

Its an option you could consider also. I have the one from G-Force. "I think" the one for the 64 through 67 would possible fit but... I don't know for sure. You could call and ask.
