had the unfortunate occurance this weekend to have my starter cable lean up against my air tubes coming out of the exhaust manifold, by the time i pulled off and found it amid the sparks that were flying, one of the air tubes was glowing red hot and is about 3/4 gone, another has some damage but cannot yet be determined. Also the one that was glowing red, I may or may not be able to remove from the header now as the damage is right wher they connect and not sure if any damage was done to the header.

I am trying to get her smogged before I do any major exhaust upgrades which is what I would normally do in this situation.

So I will likely be having to get a new header and air tubes. As a quick fix, is it possible for me to just plug that exhaust port via screw / jbweld, one of those exhaust band aid kits... or something. Unfortunately I don't think there is enough of the air tube left on the one to jbweld a solution on it as I had previously done at another hole on the same side which has held up nicely.

I know that getting another set of air tubes may be tough as they tend to fall apart when you take them off.

Go to the hardware store and buy a plug to screw into the threaded hole until you get the AIR tube replaced. (If memory serves me correctly, it is a 1/4" plug with pipe threads). The guy doing the smog test will have to be extremely observant to see the plug if the tube is anywhere close to its original shape/position.

thanks for the input. I managed to find a new one for 33 bucks, so grabbed it, but I might also go find a screw and try and get away with that for now as I don't have time during the week to swap them out and the exhaust leak just draws more attention to my vehicle than it needs driving on expired tags.

Thanks guys
