Hello, and thanks for your help in advance. I'm a very new owner of 1974 Elkie. I tried to look for the codes but can't seem to find what I need. This car has a 454 and has S3 on the grill. Runs but needs work so this is my new project. I know nothing about elkies can you help.

ST74 1AD80 B 333679 BDY
TR 724 A65. 46 46 PNT
05C92 B. 0814

My vin is at my office but I know the 5th letter is a Y...I think. Can you tell me what I have here? Thanks

Baker

ST 74 = Style 1974

1AD80 - El Camino Classic Pikcup Delivery

B - Baltimore Plant code
333679 - Body number assinged to car by Chevrolet (no meaning, number generated by processing of orders etc)

Tr is TRim
724 = Meduin green cloth trim
A65 is a Bench Seat with armrest option code
46 - Lower paint is Bright Green Metallic
46 - Upper is the same

05C - Month and week of production, May, 3rd week

B. - Uknown, not documented
0814 - Internal plant ident number tagged to build process and plant documents.

Nothing to indicate 454 engine, only the VIN will confirm that. The 5ht digit must be a Y for it to be a 454. Let us know..

Thanks Mike, I really appreciate your help. The 5th of the vin is a Y. Also I checked the trans mount and it has the 2 humps for the exhaust. Is there any way to confirm this is really an S3 car? It has the fiberglass nose with the emblems.

I just had it towed to a local shop to replace the brake lines. Needs new headers and putting all new springs and shocks. Just want to play for awhile. Maybe later on do a resto. Is this a keeper car?

Also any good sited to find doors and other parts for this?

Thanks Again for your help.

The endura front end is the first tip off. The verifed 454 in the VIN is another. S3's were supposedly the insurance friendly name for the mid 70's SS. Nice find enjoy it!
