well good morning. i was going to use elka today after a couple of weeks sitting, and my emergency brake does not want to release. is it a matter of "hitting " the brakes to release, or shoul i do something more substantial. waiting for tips...tks in advance........

My guess is that the little clip on the back of the brake release handle has come off. you cn reinster the rubber stop into the handle and then pull the handle that should release it. If you can't do that because it is set, you should be able to take a pair of pliers and grab the steel wire that runs through the emergency pedal to the brake release handle and just pull on it directly to release it, then once released, slip the handle back into the rubber grommet hope that helps.

thanks a lot. worked perfectly. appreciated.........
I have the completd opposite of that problem and can not find any info on how to resolve. My emergency brake pedal will no longer depress. Cable seems to be ok on the wheel end. When I go to depress the pedal, the pedal and release lever both move a little(jiggle) but won't depress. Any clues?

Back off the right side rear cable at the equalizer ( this is the cable with the threaded end and nut) so that you are able to disconnect the rear cable at the joiner. If you park brake now works then your rear cables are seized.
