my car has been burning oil for awhile meaning seeing smoke come out the tail pipe smells like oil and usually adding a quart every 500 miles, but its getting worse and so is the smoke where now when i hit the gas i can see it more frequently. tonight the idling was so low when i stopped i thought it was going to die then when i hit the gas more smoke and it hesitated a few times before it started going. i am hoping maybe something easy to fix maybe spark plugs? but i know its not these damn 229s suck i dont have alot of money for anything new but if it is about to go im gonna try to drop in a used 350 with a th350 out of a junkyard. let me know what yall think, thanks in advance darryl.

seems like its on its death bed and ready to go if it dies it dies, you can always bring the car back to life with a new better engine. Don't junk it!

Her in Ohio we have what is called the Traiding Post a local book you can pick up at any gas station people list cars and such for sale. Do you have one like that in your town look in it and If you don't have much money find one you can here run will be your best bet and yes you can try a junk yard as long as it is repitable.

Do you have a compression tester? I would rent/buy one and give it a test both wet and dry. That should tell you if it is rings or valves. You may get away with a valve job. If it's the rings, I've heard of people having some luck re-seating the rings. It's not a permenant solution, but it'll get you by till you can save money for what you really want!!
