Do you have a problem with Seafoam? It is being recommended for a reason. It's some of the best over-the-counter stuff you can use.
Take care.

You can also go to your local GM dealer and pick up a can of GM Top Engine cleaner. I think it costs around $4-5 a can. It's easy to use, if you follow the directions, and it'll clean the carbon from the combustion chambers and valve train. Be prepared for lots of smoke.

The old school method to remove carbon requires a steady hand and a bottle of water, an old glass Coke bottle was the prefered container of choice. With your thumb partially covering the opening, carefully allow a small stream of water to enter the carb with the engine running about 1500 rpm. The resulting steam in the combustion chamber will cause any carbon build up to come flying out the tailpipes. Too much water, too quickly will cause some serious damage also, so if you are going to try this method go slowly!

I have had really good luck with a product from Amsoil called Power Foam. Its a spray you put right down the carb or throtlebody. You spray the whole can in and shut he engine off. Let it sit for 15 mins then start it up and watch the smoke and black chunks blow out the tail pipe. If you have really heavy carbon build up it might take a few times to get it out.
