Hey I'm Drew, and I live in Nebraska, and just last week picked up my first el Camino. it's a 69 with just a straight 6 250 in it right now, body is in good shape, 1 spot of surface rust, interior needs a lot of work. I've had fun with it so far, and I've gotten a lot of good info from all of you!!!

here's the pics!

funny you should say that... my wife nicknamed it the "electric banana" which is precisely why i'm most likely going to repaint it.
hopefully a deep brandywine maroon color, with black racingstripes.
of course at that point i'd have to put a v8 under the hood to keep up with the look eh?

thanks for the welcome!

Drew, welcome to NECOA, I think it looks sweet, sure to be a head turner. I had a 72 Chevelle with a straight 6 and got around 30mpg, but im a gear head now and also would put a ground pounder in it myself.

I vote to keep the color. Yellow is a much underrated color, buck the trend and the name calling; be the trend setter!!!!

Hey Drew. Welcome!

Gorgeous color, and body style (Prettiest of them all IMHO).

Mine's a red 70. Had I had a choice of colors between yours and mine, it would have been a real close call. I like the bolder shades of yellow a lot more than the pastels, etc.

I'm with Shalley's_64.

Keep it bright!!! Buck the trend!!!!

(although brandywine aint bad either)

I also vote to leave it yellow and spend that money to drop a v8 in place of that 6cyl.

Welcome to the Forum Andrew. This is the best El Camino Club - period. Great looking ride.

I guess if you put a bigger engine in it, you'll be able to "peel out" faster, huh? Get it? Banana - peel out.

Ok, it's late. I think I'll log off now.

Take care.

Welcome aboard! I've always like yellow cars and trucks. 8-) I think it look great. Good luck on the interior restoration.

I look forward to seeing more. :-D

Congrats on the ride, Drew. Of course, I hope it never gets a nick on it, but if anyone did bump into it, they won't be able to tell the judge they didn't see you coming!!!!!
