That's, of course, assuming you have nice looking panels in there to start!

For the rest of us starting out with daily drivers in bad weather parts of the country, you first have to take them out, scrape all the crap and tar off them, as well as any overspray from previous paint jobs, then sand, prime and paint them in semi-gloss black. Its a messy job. but really pays off on the curb-appeal aspect. I do like the Armor-all for keeping them bright looking.

See my album for what I had to start with and how it wound up.

Nice job John.......It's amazing what a difference those small details make in how a vehicle appears to people.
One of my next projects is painting the calipers and the drums.....and now that I've seen your inner wheel wells.....they'll be added to the list.

I found a product called "Back-to-Black" at the local parts store.....made by Mothers. I've had a bottle of it for two years now........takes very little to bring back that clean black look. I use it on anything painted or originallly factory black. Recently started using it on my tires too and it gives them a no-streak original flat look.

Back to Black works great on the plastic fan shroud too.

I've also have used the Back to Black from Mothers and thought it did a decent job, but my engine compartment plastic needed something a little longer lasting.

I've found this product from Poorboys World Trim Restorer (http://www.poorboysworld.com/trim-restorer.htm). This stuff works fantastic on hard plastic like inner wheel wells, fan shrouds, etc. I just pour a little in a small plastic cup and apply with a cheap small foam brush. Let it dry a minute or two and buff out.

I also use Poorboys Bold N Bright tire dressing (http://www.poorboysworld.com/bold-bright.htm) for all the engine compartment hoses. Same application of a small plastic cup and apply with a cheap small foam brush. Let it dry a minute or two and buff out. This was recommended because heater hoses, etc, are more porous than the hard plastic of inner wheel wells.

Sorry if I got off topic....

Try a shot of "pledge" on a rag and rub a bit. An old car show trick that works pretty good and it smells good too. Use it all under the hood too.
