Due to some of the custom mods that where done witch may backfire, from orig. restore some people maybe pay $16,000 to $18,000. But a BB SS 68 Elky done frame up orig. your looking at maybe $25 to $30,000.

Personally, I would not give any extra $$ for the modification stuff like the alarm and stereo. It sounds like the car is really nice, and was redone in full detail. It does lose a little bit of value by the mods, from a pure stocker restoration standpoint, even if they add to the car's enjoyment and usefullness. As a nice driver and fun car, I would not go over $15-18K, but I am cheap

I agree, 15 to 18 grand. You can check out mine in the link, I was looking for 1970 El Camino's without #'s matching because the price is less. I got mine which the older man kept as close to stock as possible and it is in good condition for $9750, turbo 400 and all. It sounds like the one you are looking at is real nice, I would buy it if I were you and the price is fair.

Major deduct for the 2 speed powerglide even though there are not many built that way with a BB its still a negative. After 68 they did not use any powerglides with BB chevelles or el camino's. Question, does the dash trans selector match the trans or did someone put the powerglide in when it was rebuilt? Car looks good in the pic you posted and if done well will bring 12,000 to 16, 000 maybe a little more but that would depend on a lot of things and no picture will show what I would look for. Remember it has one real good thing it is a 68 and a 138 vin that means it a real "SS" no argument. I would guess 16K to be the right number the way you describe it.

It is your call, and all cars are worth what they bring at the time they sell. By survival percentage the El Camino's should be worth a lot more than they bring on the average for #3 and #2 cars. As there is supposed to be only 3% of the total build of 68 to 72 still registered today. The Chevelle is 8 to 10 % so go figure.

Good luck

Several questions arise.

How can it be "numbers matching" without the correct origional tranny?
Why an opg disc brake upgrade? I'm thinking SS big block cars came with disc standard.
Does it have a 12 bolt rear?

It's a nice looking elky and easily worth what others are suggesting here. I'm just skeptical of the "numbers matching" claim. Not an issue though unless that's being used to inflate the price.

from what i've gathered.. disk brakes weren't standard on a 68 super sport. that was an extra cost. and the trans numbers don't match since it's been upgraded but i still have the original power glide in storage.

great input, guys... much appreciated!

Yep, Dan Carr's info indicates drum standard with 4 piston caliper disc the option.
