Welcome! Congrats on your possible elky! Patterson...right past Morgan City...the sticks, right? I'm up in Baton Rouge and am also restoring a family owned elky. I'm not sure what clubs would be in your area. The closest club to me is in Denham Springs, which is not too far away, and meets every second Tuesday of the month at 7pm. It's held at the Shoney's just off the Denham Springs exit (I-12). I haven't been in a while, but did enjoy going. It's a small group with great resources for parts and info.
Anyways, hope you enjoy working on your elky. I'm sure you'll hit a few stubbling block allong the way, but you've come to the right place!

I had a 85 Camaro Berlinetta "305" that I swap a 350 and 700R4 into to... so I am pretty familar with the setup.... Yeh, I hear that. I have a 305 as well. It runs strong, but I'm in the process of changing all of the gaskets since exhaust was coming from my heads. I've only got about 82,000 on the 305, so it should be good for a while. I plan on replacing it down the road with a 383 stroker...about 500 hp...oh yeh, baby! :P
But, until then, my 80' SS will be stock.
