First time poster...
I have a '85 with a 4.3 V6.
I was driving and it stalled (First time ever), It would not restart.
I have determined I have fuel to the TBI and Spark.
I can get it to turn over by pouring gas in the TBI, also If I jumper either Fuel Injector to 12v the engine will start and run( I do not recommend doing this for an extended amount of time because it will destroy the fuel injector - Cost me $65 to find that out! ).
So If I am correct I am not getting pulses from the ECM for the Fuel Injectors. I have read out the codes on the ECM and only get a 12.
I have checked to see if I have oil pressure when starting the eng, that is good. I have already replaced the fuel filter.
I have ordered a replacement ECM but that will be 2 more days before it comes in..
Any other suggestions?

Have you tried any of this first?
If engine cranks but will not start without long cranking, or if engine starts but immediately stalls, check the following:
1. Binding or sticking TPS, or high TPS voltage with throttle closed.
2. High resistance in coolant sensor circuit (see Trouble Code 15).
3. Incorrect fuel pressure or contaminated fuel.
4. Improper EGR operation, leaking, binding or sticking EGR valve.
5. Ignition system malfunction, worn damaged or fouled spark plugs.
6. Defective in-tank fuel pump check valve allowing fuel to drain back to tank after engine is stopped.
7. On V6-173 (2.8L) if engine starts, then dies, open distributor bypass line. If engine starts and runs properly, replace pickup coil.

Thanks for the reply,
But...
I have checked the TPS, Voltage is correct. Open and closed.
Not getting any trouble codes..
The engine will not start unless I pour fuel in the TBI, or Jumper voltage to the Injector. Otherwise it will only crank till the batt dies.
I figure Jumpering the Injector proves that I have fuel and Spark, it ran for more than a few minutes that way(till I burned up the injector and had to replace it).

Hello: The injectors will not open if there is no refference pulse from the dist. The dist sends a pulse to the ECM and the ECM in turn opens the injector at the correct time for a breif period. When you first turn the ign sw on listen for the fuel pump in the tank to run for 2 seconds. This test cannot be done very close together. Waite for a few moments before retrying. If the fuel pump does not run you may have a bad pump or blown fuse. There is a pump prime pigtail and fuse located on the pass fender, right on top. The fuse is in a plastic housing, you must pull it out to see it. The fuel pump prime pigtail is there also. Apply 12 v to the pigtail to make the pump run. The fuel pump relay is there also. Cand send you a schematic of the fuel pump ckt if you like and a pic of the parts and their location. Drom me an E Mail
good luck

I wouldn't think his fuel pump is the problem if he's able to make it run with a jumper wire to the Injectors. It does sound to me like the ECM isn't sending pulse to the injectors. Gotta find what sends signal to the ECM and start your tracing there, could be something stupid like something in the distributor. Good luck.

Hello: Try this. If you have a voltmeter or a test lamp check for +12 volts at the injector connection with the ign sw on. +12 volts should be applied to the injectors with just Ign on. If you do not have 12 volts there check for a blown fuse in the fuse block. Should be around a 10 amp fuse. If there is no +12 volts there then that is your problem. The ECM then applies ground to the other side of the injector to pulse it open. Start with that. If it runs at all then the Ign module is at least working somewhat. Let us know if that leads you anywhere
good luck
