so my bottom radiator hose is leaking and obviously needs to be replaced.
when i do this (i know the engine needs to be cool), is there anything I should do before loosening the clamps and taking off the hose?

Drain the radiator first or you'll have a real mess when you pull off the lower hose. The drain **** should be on the lower part of the tank, usually on the opposite side to the hose.

I've flushed my radiator before, so I know what you're talking about. Thanks a bunch.

I do what I have seen at local rad shops and put a hose and pump and start and then gravity feed what I can out of the radiator can even salvage and reuse this way. DO NOT DO IN A WAY THAT CAN GET IT IN YOUR MOUTH POISONES

Also, if you have pets be sure to dilute and clean up any spillage because antifreeze will kill a dog before your very eyes.
