: AC question from a newbie

I have a 1968 SS El Co. When I turn on the AC.. I get a loud squealing noise. Bad belt? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Adjust belt so that it is tighter. Sounds like a loose A/C belt. I take it the A/C works but squeals?
