I'm so glad I came across this great site! A special thanks to the people or person for putting together an excellent Web Site! Very well done and layed out! A class act!
Do you have a story or moment in time when you first saw a El Camino that made you add it to your wish list?
For me it was in Oct of 1969, and the new 1970 models were just out. I was only 16 then and I was on my way to the park to play some baseball. There it was...parked in front of driveway was a brand new 1970 El Camino SS 454!! 8O I remember stopping dead in my tracks at the sight of that car. The bright color paint with the racing stripes and the 454 emblems! How I wanted to have a ride in that car! From that day I have always loved the 1970 El Camino as my favorite year.
I graduated from high school in 1970. My 1970 El Camino brings me back in a time every time I start it! 8)
Sincerely,
Dave

I know the feeling, unfortunately I still don't have a 70 SS, I had to settle for an 84. ,but I love it, just the same, it just needs a lil tweaking here and there.

Welcome to the place to be if you have an Elky or a wanting for an Elky.
My dad owned a lot of El Caminos while I was growing up but to me, as a kid, they were trucks. I never appreciated them until my wife talked me into buying and restoring our first, 76 El Camino Classic.
I have three now and I love each one. I've been offered money for them but, for now, they're in my 'stable' and that is where they are going to stay for a while.
El Caminos are fun trucks and get a lot of attention. Hope you find the ideal truck your looking for. Too bad your going to use it as a truck they have much more potential.
Good luck!

Elky Pete,
Hmmmm...I think your are reading a different posting? To bad I'm using it as a truck??? Who ever said I was using my El Camino as a truck in any of my postings? Don't worry and sleep well as I'm not using my Elco as a "truck" and believe me my '70 Elco "IS" living life to it's full potential!!!

Hey 70elco, I can't agree with you more when you said "My 1970 El Camino brings me back in a time every time I start it!"
I to was getting out of high school in the early '70's and always wanted a El Camino. It took me many years to finally get my Elky and yes, it truly does bring me back to those days gone by. The Elky is a true "time machine".

70Elco: I'm originally from L.A and grew up with street racing. I didn't have a hot rod, but all my friends did. The group included a 65 Chevelle, 68 Z28, 68 Nova SS (L78), a 57, a 67 Chevy II, and a 69 GTO, but there was one guy who wasn't in our group that had a 68 Elky SS, built to the max!! They sort of looked down on him and his "gardener's truck" -- but not me, I loved it... It was different, (which I try to be) and is one of main reasons for me owning mine now... :satisfied:
