Does anyone know where I can get OEM or after-market rear drum brake backing plates for my 1980? My local Chevrolet dealer says they are NLA.

The hole where the emergency brake cable enters the right brake is rusted. I may have to weld the hole shut and then re-drill the hole again in the same location.

I went to the local U-Pull wrecker yesterday and all of the G-bodys there were worse than mine.

The 78-92 GM 9.5" backing plates are all the same and are available at most auto parts stores. I just bought two from NAPA. Try to buy a "split" backing plate. They are a bit more expensive than the one piece backing plate but the split backing plate can be installed without having to remove the rear axle. This will save you about an hour and a half when you do the swap. The NAPA part number for the split backing plate with a new brake cylinder (which is what I bought) is BK 6411478. The LH and RH are the same.
