I was at my local NAPA parts store today and came across something called Freeze 12. The can said it is compatible with any R-12 system and is used as a replacement.
Has anyone ever used this Freeze 12 before?
Pros / cons?
Is it as good cooling wise as R-12?
Im curious as this is cheaper than the regular R-12. Plus it is more available too.

Steer clear of Freeze-12 and any thing other than R-12 or 134a. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Freeze 12 is a blended refrigerant, meaning when you develop a leak again in your system, (which you will,) the smaller molecule of the blend will leak out first. This is called "fractionation" and will render the remaining charge in the system worthless. If you want to save money on refrigerants, convert your system to 134a... especially now that you're doing repairs and will have the system down. You'll save yourself heartaches and headaches in the future.

Ok, I will stay clear of the Freeze 12 then. I want to stay with the R-12 as long as I can cause the elky is numbers match with everything on the car correct down to the bias ply tires. I feel if I convert to R-134 the car will not be "Original" then.
Thanks for the info on the Freeze 12.
