I went to work for 2hrs this morning, and decided today was the day to turn the key on the elky.... I left work, came home and changed, went to the boneyard found the exhaust manifolds that i needed....

I went through and double checked everything.... hooked up the battery etc... still some minor things to do....

When i turned that key, i was SOOOOOO worried something was gonna go wrong or there was gonna be a BIG KNOCK.... but it was a nice smooooth crank. However, it didn't start tonight. I have spark, fuel, and I've double checked my valves to make sure they were adjusted right.

I'm guessing that my timing wasn't at TDC when i started it....

But I've got to tell ya, after all these months of cleaning, painting and rebuilding,,,, it sure FEELS GOOD.... to hear it crank but, would love to hear it run....

Any Suggestions...

is your carb back firing? cause when i RE-installed my new engine the dist. was 180 out...meaning i stabbed it at the wrong TDC....#1 wasnt at TDC when i stabbed the dist.....i forget how to get it outta 180 out or w/e but check ur DIST and see if its at TDC.

No backfire out of the carb....I really think that either my timing or wire order on the dist. is off.

I will double check it this evening or tomorrow.

Between this site and the montess.com site, you guys are very excellent in detail and description.
