I just spoke to a buddy yesterday. He too has an El Camino. He however has done something quite original. First I saw the pictures and then I saw the car and WOW! 8O He has got Lamborghini doors! It is a 1983 and he had the the doors done custom at some shop in L.A. for a grand total of $2000. It works like this, it is a three point hing, the door opens normally outward first and then swings up in the classic Lambo style!!! The hinge that made it swing up, extended way into the front fender and monted in there somewhere. The thing I didn't like about it was the fact that was where all the hinges mounted to the car left a big gapeing hole that you don't normally see with stock mounted doors. Has anyone else seen this done? I have given him the info on this "web site", and said that he is going to join as soon as he gets a chance and post pictures of his 1983 El Camino "AK EDITION". If not, he is supposed to be sending me some pics to post. :D

I've always wanted to see an Elco with Lambo doors. 8) I'm sure others have thought the same and look forward to the posting of those pictures.

And here's a cheaper version.
Personally , I could find much better uses for the cash.

Yeah , I don't think those would hold the GLASS, much less the door.

A couple of hydraulic rams might work tho'...hmmmmm....

The Autololc's are a copy of the GT Factory hinges. The GT hinges can handle up to 300 lbs. They work great but are a real pain to fit into a car that has a one piece front fender. I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in CA. the parikg stalls are getting samller and smaller. With these hinges I will be able to park AND get out of my Camino. If you want I will post some pics.
