The other day I was on E-Bay looking at an El Camino and couldn't find a way to decode the VIN. I found some sites with general decoding but notihng that told me every digit.

i tried using the site you posted above but it was missing parts of my vin i have an 81 caballero diablo whitch might explain why most of that site make sense but theres a few numbers missing or diferent my vin is 1gtcw80hbz500700 any explaination?

You seem to have too many letters and numbers. Your 81 VIN should not have 16 characters. Are you reading it from the VIN tag at the bottom of the windshield?

well i agree i posted the wrong vin my actual vin has 17 numbers/letters
..... 1GTCW80H8BZ500700 .....thats weird if you say i already have to many theres another one for ya and yes it is at the bottom of my windsheild drivers side haha ill take a pic as soon as i get the battery in my camera charged
