My 79 El Camino drivers side window in loose. The power window works, but the glass moves around when the window is down. The car had a worn door hinge when I bought it and I would assume the dragging door contributed to this problem. Any ideas on what's broken? How hard is it to fix? Any recommendations for parts?

Thanks for the advice!

Theres not a whole lot that can be worn with the track, It's a pretty basic unit. Pull the door panel off and take a look inside, theres only a couple 10mm bolts that hold the window in the track assembly. The felt guides could be worn down too.

Like CHVYPWR said, there are not too many possibilities.

It sounds to me like the 10 mm nuts are loose holding the window to the register. With the sagging hinge you need to use a little more force to close (slam) the door. It's possible that the slamming could have contributed to the window fasteners getting loose.

The drivers door on my 86 MCSS POS is the same way. Sagging hinge and loose window. One of these days I'll pull the panels off and fix it. If it happened on my Elky I would have fixed it immediatly. :-D
