Thought I'd try'm again. I needed some brake parts for my 70', and I got connected to a guy that was as interested in selling product as walking through fire. When I asked for someone else to speak to, he said everyone was at SEMA, and would be gone for three weeks. This whole issue arose when he told me that the brake system for a 70' was exactly the same as 71'. I should have know better. I've already learned this lesson! OPG still suc-s!

I guess so! You know I had $35 worth of points with those guys, so I thought I'd try and use them up. Big mistake! It wasn't worth the aggrevation just to save a few bucks!

I agree with you wholeheartedly! 8O I'll give you a short story. About a year ago, while setting my cruise control one time - the button, spring, etc., just flew out all over the floor. Couldn't be fixed, as the housing had cracked, etc.

I had filled out the profile page with them on 3 of my cars about 6 months before that. I called OPG, told the guy that answered the parts line what I needed, a lever with a '84 with intermittent wipers, cruise, etc. He said it was in stock, and he would get it out immediately. When it arrived, I took it over to the mechanic that does my work, and he called me about noon and told me, the part would not fit. I drove over and while I was there, I called OPG gave them the part number for the item sent, and they informed me, one for a '83 was sent, "was that what I ordered?"

I told them "no", I ordered one for an '84. He asked if I had my vehicle listed in their profile section, to which I told him yes. He ckecked, and then muttered, "yea, it does say '84". Like I don't know what I have. . 8-)

He put me on hold and in a couple minutes a Mr. Michael Lantz - who introduced himsels as the Sales Manager asked what my problem was. I told him what happened, and what the previous person had told me. He again put me on hold, came back in a couple minutes (guess he was also checking to see if I really had a '84) and said, yes, it was their mistake, please put it all back together, and he would send Fed Ex to retrieve it. Bad part was, they did not have one for an '84, so he would credit my account. I asked for him to credit my American Express Card, which was how I paid for the item. He said they could not do that, it was their policy to credit my account when a part was returned. I explained it was being returned because of "THEIR" mistake, and he said that did not matter, it had to be credited to my account. I wasn't pleased, but figured I would be spending money again, so no big deal.

I also informed Michael the mechanic was charging me $55.00 to reinstall my old one, so I would have turn signals, and he told me, he would have to check with the owner, but would get back to me in a day or so.

I went to my local Chevy dealer, ordered the item, and again paid $55.00 to have it installed. BTW, the Chevy dealer charged me $88.00 for the part, OPG charged me $103.50, and it was the wrong one.

No problem, I figured I would end up with $158.50 credit, and would use it sooner or later. I got busy, and forgot about it for almost a week, but remembered Michael had not called me back. I called him, and was informed that the owner, "did not pay for installation mistakes. The mechanic should have known it was the wrong item, before he tore it all apart."

Now, how the heck would the mechanic know? I argued, and even went back to American Express and lodged a complaint to which AMEX refused to pay OPG the $103.50, to which OPG threatened to sue me for stopping AMEX from paying. However, I did get that money back, as OPG was never paid by AMEX after they investigated it all. I did loose the $55.00 for installation - and have told anyone and everyone who would listen how OPG operates.

I agree with you - THEY STILL SUC* - BIG TIME. I will do without, before I ever deal with them again.. . . .

Just my opinion. . .I'm sure there are just as many stories on how well people have been treated and are satisfied - just not me :evil:

8) I've used them twice. Was happy with most parts but every thing you order seems to be on backorder. Ordered floor pans I asked, these are a direct fit he said yes. WRONG! The rear pans are like 8" short.

Ummm Scott...where do you think OPG gets their OEM parts from?

Just to be fair, I've ordered from them 3 or 4 times and have had no problems and was satisfied with the product. Or maybe the parts I've ordered were in stock.

I've order from them several times now, and have found them to be lacking as well. As mentioned above, everything seems to be on backorder, and so much for the 30 day time frame. I'm well into 90 days, so I'm canceling my order. Each time I have ordered with them, I've had to wait, and keep calling them back about when it would be here. Funny thing is they have this big warehouse on their front cover of the catalog..., I wonder what they actually keep in that warehouse?

Sounds like they keep parts that nobody needs in that warehouse. As a note, I hate their web site. I'll shop somewhere else, typically Summit. Their site is the BEST for shopping. You know exactly when they are going to ship your product and their customer service is second to none.

As a general rule, i'll buy from summit, or jegs, however with these year vehicles, I'd thought I'd have a better time finding parts that I needed through OPG,.... little did I know that I would be having so many issues with them. I'm still waiting on a set of new rubber for my brake and gas pedal.
I'm just replacing some of the original worn stuff. I bought this truck over the summer from a 75 y/o guy that was the original owner. Over all it was in good shape other than worn rubber parts, and the door hinges.
It had 105,000 miles on it.

[B][I] I've used OPG twice... the first time I had a 3 to 6 month wait for the parts, some were damaged when I got them (Sheet Metal) and I was told I shouldn't have accepted them if they were damaged. Damage was hidden until the packages were open... no biggie, I could cure that. But the wait and the damage wasn't the killer. That was the first (and only time) I had used that credit card in two years, and surprise... my next invoice showed over $3,000 worth of charges to off shore "businesses" like Ragin Stallion in Sao Paulo Brazil. I got that straightend out with my card issuer, and while I can't prove it, that was the only use of the card.

I waited a year before I finally calmed down enough to order more stuff, and cause they had the parts. A phone call assured me they had the parts. 3 months.... 6 months.... 9 months, and I finally got one of the salesmen to admit they didn't have the parts, thier supplier wouldn't be making them for at least 3 more months, and I'd have to wait because I couldn't get them anywhere else. I cancelled the order, hit e-bay, and had the parts in about 4 days. I sure wasn't satisfied with thier attitude that I would just have to wait cause they were the only place to get the parts.

Nope, I wont go back to them

Original Parts Group. Or OPGI, if you add the "inc." on the end. A reproduction retailer for our cars. There are others and we all may have had good/bad dealings with any of them. OPGI has a great catalog and web site for finding parts and they seem to have a larger selection of parts. They are well known by some for backorders and other such pains in the but.

I usually go to sites like OPG, ecparts.net & search for part numbers & availability & then search dealers & local parts sources 'cuz like some Old & Wise guy said in an earlier post (in this thread) "Where do you think OPG gets their OEM parts from?" You'd be surprised at the amount of stuff still available from the OEM's (Especially Gen 5).
