: new 69 el owner
dirty_johnny 09-04-2003, 02:36 PM hi, i am a first time el owner and i hope that i have several more in my future.
anyway let me tell you how i became the lucky owner of my 69 el camino.
i had an old 78 ford pick up with a rebel flag on the hood for sale and this fellow came by in this very pretty black 69 el camino and after looking at my truck for a few minutes asked if i would be interested in a even trade...well momma didnt raise no fool so i swapped titles as fast as possible.. the fellow told me he had paid $5000 for this car in dec of last year..and i had 1500 in the truck...best trade i ever made!!!
well i did that back in may and i have enjoyed this car more than any other i have ever owned...
this elk came with a 307 but now has a 80 model 350. still has the original 2 speed.
the only things i have done is a gt steering wheel and a little sound system.
i hope to get some great hints here and from what i have read i think ill like it here.
JOHNNY

just a little bit had that stereo laying around and decided that it would look good in this truck. any comments? anyone else putting subs in there trucks?
1968elCamino 09-04-2003, 05:33 PM Jeez. I suppose it's got the origional interior, and no rust. Some guys just get took. If your feeling bummed about being taken to the cleaners I could possibly see my way to taker off your hands. Of coarse it's gonna cost ya a little something. :-D

dirty_johnny 09-04-2003, 05:42 PM i would love to tell ya that its perfect but alas its not.....
it does have a few little spots and the paint needs freshing,
but.....there arent many of them around this part of the country (central mississippi) that it still turns heads at car shows and pratically everywhere i go.
oh dont get me wrong if someone wanted it bad enough to give me what i had to have i would let it go.......im gonna ask $5000 for it
i know its high but i dont really want to sell
everything has a price
Kool177 09-04-2003, 05:45 PM Welcome to the family! Your El Camino is awesome! Hope all goes well for you and your El Camino! :D
ElkyPete 09-04-2003, 05:46 PM asacxASXA :nervous: :lookround:  :onfire: OOOOhhh! Someone give that man a drink!
1968elCamino 09-04-2003, 05:48 PM Yep, just what I thought. When I looked at your pictures in the photo album I noticed that you still had the shift lever on the column, and that there hadn't been a conversion to a floor shifter. Tsk Tsk Tsk. Well I'll still take her off your hands, but it will cost you a lot more. 8O
Naw, I'm just funnin' you. You got a good one.
dirty_johnny 09-04-2003, 05:52 PM actually i should be ashamed of myself........this past weekend i was gonna put a floor shifter in it but it wouldent let the seat move foward and my wife couldent drive it then so i left it alone.
1968elCamino 09-04-2003, 06:14 PM Oh God. Leave the shifter where it is. Step away from the car. Now put down that cuttin' torch...
I got one of those damndable aftermarket floor shifters, and I hate it. If Chevy wanted floor shifters in those models they would have put them in don't you think? I'm partial to things being stock.
It reminds me of something that I once heard about whoring up the neighbor girl. Maybe it's fun at first, but then... What am I talkin' about. Go ahead and whore her up. But leave the shifter where it is!
dirty_johnny 09-04-2003, 06:19 PM your right im not gonna mess with it anymore except for the engine ........but of course i would love to have some buckets and maybe some rallys..

87ElCamino 09-05-2003, 06:16 AM Welcome to ECC Johnny!
Everytime I've gone to Mississippi I always see some real nice El Caminos. Your Elky is definitely one of them. The next time your heading towards Vicksberg on Rt. 20 look for the yellow 1960 Elky on the frontage road just before exit 15.
