Looks like I'll be moving to the Chicago, IL about the begin of January. Just wanted to know if there was vehicle inspections or emission laws? Also, for those of you that have cellphones, what service provider do you suggest for this area?

I'm moving there to attend UTI, an automotive institute. I'm really psyched.

Psyched is great, but moving to Chicago in January?

From this ex-Florida boy's viewpoint, are you nuts???

Seriously, Best wishes with the move.

8) Thats what I was thinking AND I LIVE HERE!! I'm about a hour and 15 min. south of where you a going. We have wind out of the NW and snow flurries. Maybe you should have considered Wyo Tech ! Just yanking your chain a little. UTI is a really good school. Checked it out when one of my sons was thinking of going. He wound up a carpenter instead. It does get cold up there though! Good luck and Welcome to Illinois!

Welcome

There are no inspections in Il, but there is emmission testing. I dont know what year the cut off is but I have to run my 75 Mercedes though it.
The cell phone coverge is good for all the major companys, your choice.

8) It's about the same as anywhere else. I think all you have to take is the written test. It's multiple guess done on a computer. Just pick up a book at the DMV and go through it before you go and you'll do fine!

chicago is alot different than downstate IL

down here in central IL near springfield and bloomington and peoria and champaign we only test on paper, and we have no inspections or tests or anything at all, you do whatever you want ot anything you want and no worries

however any 1 ton trucks and larger trucks do still get inspected

nothing lighter, since 1984 or 1985

good luck
