Here's a differant one off ebay. The sad thing is he probably spent a load of $$$ to put the two cars together, but didn't take care of it the way he should have.

1972 Buick GS El Camino (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2431735860&category=6144)

That is one I have never seen! Forget the condition of this car for a moment and really look over all at the concept. I happen to love the lines of those older Buicks and I LOVE the look of this car. The front fenders lines that go back into the doors looks great. If Buick would of made these there would have been a ton sold! And remember Buicks were always a step up the GM line when it came to the interior back then. Of course we all know back then the '70 Buick GSX 455 was one bad ride!!

Think about that one...a '70 Buick GSX 455/El Camino?? I would of loved to have owned one of those if built! Plus it would look great parked next to my Buick Grand National!

Nice idea huh? GM actually built an Olds Cutlass version (442), a Pontiac LeMans version (GTO) and Buick versions for the show circuit (GSX and GN). All were great looking cars and they went pretty fast as well. I've seen one of the late model GN versions in a car show here in Dallas, but the others were just in pictures. Very cool!

Here's a pic of a 70s El Camino and Monte Carlo combo that a friend of mine built a few years back. He called it ELCARLO. Notice he did not just bolt the front-end on and quit at that. He grafted parts of the MC doors to the Elky doors. Also included is a couple of Elky/Poncho combo pics I've captured over the years.

The price for parts on those things is double sometimes triple if you can find the stuff. The part that sent me over the edge and made my desicion to sell the car was a core support(like this one needs). A used one was going to run me $500!

This guy really put the time in to graph the body lines onto the doors and the paint and stripe work. It's a shame he let it get rough around the edges. Then again, any car can be made new again with enough money.

I have also seen a '96 last rwd LT-1 Impala 6-speed done up as an El Camino that was well done. I have already posted my thoughts on the new possible El Camino. Great drive train with the Rear wheel drive LS1, but come on give me a break with the egg shape boring same car next to be body. A retro look Camaro, Chevelle & EL CAMINO is a must! I want my next job to be the head in the marketing department of GM. Its time to jump start the flat-liner in the "Heart Beat of America" theme!

....Hey GM are you reading this stuff???

I agree completely...GM needs help in the worst way. Ford has the right idea with their retro looks ...don't know if someone at GM is listening or watching, but it's immaterial to me..I'm stickin' with the old iron myself!

I just want you to know that's not my ride, but it just loved it so took many pix of it. And it's actually an 80 Diablo & that's the same thing that I have.

Oh my my....This one hurts a little. What a fantastic ride and job on the Buick GN Turbo V6/ El Camino. I loved the pic's of the motor but then I cringed when I saw the beautiful interior shots of a real Buick Grand National interior in there. That tells me there is one less "Real" Buick Grand National on the streets.

Remember I also own (an orginial owner) a Buick Grand National. One of only 2000 made of my year.

There is 1 less GN on the road today, but at least the drive train was saved and turned into a wonderful Diablo. I think the motor came out of an 87 which was one of the bigger producing years.

I loved the way the guy put the Turbo Buick Symbol inside of a Chevy sign in the seat.

i've been toying around with an idea kinda like this, except with an '81 lemans front clip. i would shave all the emblems off and everything and just keep people guessing. and i happened to find an '81 lemans at the local JY with a PERFECT front clip too! hmmm......

I would guess that all you need is the header panel, bumper, and hood. Everything else from the radiator support back should be the same as an El Camino. I've thought about it too when I passed a Regal SW in the JY.

so the fenders would be the same or at least fit up with the header panel? i'm going there tomorrow so i'll take another look

I just checked my Hollander interchange book. I've got good news and bad news.

The bad news is, the fenders are different on the 79 Grand Am. They're the same dimension at the door side but I think they flair a little at the bottom front to meet the bumper cover. So, to do the swap, you'd need the whole doghouse: the hood, fenders, and header panel.

The good news is, the doors are a direct interchange. So is the radiator support. The Hollander book shows that some of the 78-81 Grand Ams had an aluminum radiator support too.
